Durga Pujo – the World’s Biggest Festival – sees 6-8 million Pujo enthusiasts every year, excited to catch a glimpse of Maa Durga among other revelries of this grand festival.
While celebrating art, culture and creativity reigns supreme in this festive extravaganza, what often takes a back seat is the basic comfort of the millions of people who throng the streets of the City during this time. For most organizing Pujo Committees, the focus is primarily on creating a spectacular pandal with innovative themes.
Drinking Water, Hygienic Toilets, Feeding and Changing Rooms for New Mothers, Safety of Women – these are just some of the basic amenities that MahaUtsav Online aims to raise awareness around and encourage all its Partnering Pujos and Sponsors to adopt in their Durga Puja regimes.
Durga Pujo is essentially a celebration of Maa Durga’s annual homecoming with her children. In fact, Durga Pujo is one of the only festivals where a deity – Mother Goddess is worshipped along with her children. It is also a celebration of ‘Shakti’ or women power.
