The Glorious Legacy

Post Second World War socio-economic conditions of the country was gloomy. Undivided India was still struggling to gain Independence. Communal harmony of undivided India was at its worse. At this hour of crisis three gentlemen, Late Sri Rashbehari Ghosh, Late Dr. Kumarkanti Ghosh and Late Sri Mohit Mohon Ghosh came forward to facilitate the localites of Chakraberia and its adjoining localities to celebrate and perform all rituals related to Durga Puja peacefully within the locality. A community Durga Puja named as "Chakraberia Sarbojanin Durgotsab," was thus initiated in 1946 by this trio.

Since then the Chakraberia Sarbojanin Durgotsab Committee has been continuing the glorious legacy of this Puja against all odds and obstacles making this one of the most sought-after and visited Pujos of Kolkata. As this historical Puja steps into its 74th year of celebrations, this year, the celebrations promise to be grand.

Chakraberia Sarbojanin Durgotsab Committee is known to come up with interesting and out-of-the-box themes at their Durga Pujo every year, and this year is no different.

The Theme for 2019 Durga Pujo is 'Parat' - Layers of Reality. Chakraberia Sarbojanin's Pujo Pandal this year aspires to take its visitors through different levels of reality.

Layers of Reality

Truth rests upon relevance. What one sees is real, what one cannot see also seems real.

Layers of the conscious and subconscious interweave an alternate world of realism.

Truth, with its varied intricacies and paradoxes, leads to a far complexed and perplexed state of realism.

Chakraberia Sarbojanin's iconic installation LAYERS OF REALITY is an aesthetic representation seeking to untangle the unending loops and undying knots tied within the spectacular and transcendental world of reality. And amidst the magnificent dichotomy of the sometimes tangible, sometimes illusionary layers of realism emerges the definition of the ultimate universal truth.
